I have been a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers since 2009, I’m a Registered Social Worker, and have remained in good standing throughout this time. I have a Masters Degree in Social Work from the University of Toronto, as well as an Honors Bachelors Degree in Social Work from Toronto Metropolitan University. I have professional experience working with individuals, and couples, through my roles in community mental health organizations.
My training and professional development is in the areas of Gottman Method Couples Therapy, Internal Family Systems, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Counselling, and Emotion-Focused Counselling. I have assisted clients with finding their authentic self, managing depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, loss and grief, low self-esteem, chronic health issues, stress management, gender identity, sexual orientation, and trauma. I welcome those who identify as LGBTQ2S+ and strive to create a safe space for all clients.
I am committed to client centered counselling and consider client concerns within the greater context of their lives. I work with my clients to set goals for therapy and find solutions that are mutually agreed upon. I believe clients have many strengths, which can be used to assist them in achieving their therapeutic goals.
I strive to be inclusive of individuals from diverse backgrounds and am committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all clients. I endeavour to be non-judgmental, respectful, empathetic, warm, and recognize that individual clients have had their own unique life experiences.
I am passionate about my education in Mental Health and will continue to study evidence-based therapies, as they are relevant to my interests and client concerns. I am also committed to advocating for equality in and outside the therapy office and am continually learning new ways to do so.
